Window size – 63.6” wide x 51.7” high ( 1.615 m x 1.314 m )

Mode of Operation – Side hung open in vent

Glass Spec. – toughened outer / cavity / laminated inner

Explosive – 220 lbs of TNT ( 100 kg )

Distance - 82 ft ( 25 meters )

Measured Peak Pressure – 19.6 psi ( 135.0 kP )

Average Impulse – 71 psi-msec ( 490 kPa-msec )

 

Toughened outer glass broke - internal laminated glass remained in the frame. Spoonful of small fragments / dust scattered over the cubicle floor up to 3.0 m inside. The toughened outer pane scattered mainly within 6.0m in front of the cubicle but some fragments up to 9.0m. The internal cover strips to the glazing beads detached and hit the back wall of the cubicle.

 

Hazard Level – the window was assessed as Very Low Hazard but the cover strips caused a high hazard which can be addressed by bonding / fixing these in place.
